Diary Entries

Sunday, October 12th 2008:
I was glad that my old routine was finally back. The routine that was broken by my summer trips, Ramadan, Eid and fasting right after Eid.

7:30am: I woke up with so much energy after sleeping for 5 hours only. I wore my suit that was hanging outside my cupboard ready to be worn. A white Karin Millen suit, a short skirt and a top but I added a white & navy blue striped scarf to break all the white. I headed downstairs to the dining room where the breakfast was set, but after more than a month of fasting I just couldn't eat.

8:30am: The beginning of a long busy day at the office. My colleague greeted me with a big smile saying: "You're early today". I paused, smiled back and said: "Back to the routine". I felt like Ugly Betty with all the energy I had.

11:30am: Time for my Dhuhur Prayer break. I walked to Mama Ameena's house which is 3 seconds away from the office. She was expecting me as she does everyday at this hour. I had my usual daily chat with her, this time she was telling me about a place that sells amazing blankets and we talked about how we were feeling after getting done with fasting.

1pm: Went home for lunch. I had a yummy dish of macaroni & cheese while watching the last episode of MONK season 5.

3:30pm: While working on a very stressful issue, I decided to reward myself with a cup of green tea. I went to the kitchen and poured boiled water into my black I Love NY mug. And of course, as always, I found something floating on top. I picked up a tea spoon and removed that thing to see what it was. And of course, as always, it was a very small insect. I immediately changed my mind about the reward and went back to the stressful job.

6pm: I arrived home feeling productive. And I finally got the chance to have a clean cup of tea.

7pm: Time for working out. I took my portable DVD player and went downstairs to where the treadmill was. I always have to come up with solutions and invent some kind of a DVD holder so the screen would be right infront of me. I placed three side tables on top of each other infront of the treadmill and put the DVD player on top. I jogged for 45 minutes while watching Ally Mcbeal.

8pm: What feels better than a warm shower after working out? I love the feeling of hot water falling over my sore feet.

8:30pm: I was starving. I planned having toast & cheese for dinner but when I saw my family having Qeema I couldn't resist.

9pm: I decided to spend the rest of the day reading. I picked up the boring book that I was reading, Twilight, and read chapter 11. I was still wondering what the fuss is all about?! But I can never start a book and not finish it. My trick when I get bored of a certain book is to start reading another book at the same time. Most people who do that never get back to the first book, but of course different Nazli is not like that. I feel guilty for leaving it and I finish it faster than the second one. I decided to do that since I really can't find Twilight interesting. So I walked to my library with that very interesting feeling I get when I wonder which book I will pick up next. It was Men are From Mars, Women are From Venus.

11pm: After two hours of non stop reading between two books I thought that I was ready to fall asleep. But as I put my head on the pillow and switched off the light that's hanging on my bed, I found myself drifting in thoughts: What will I wear tomorrow for my friend's graduation? Which series shall I start watching next? Season 4 of Desperate Housewives or season 5 of One Tree Hill? What will happen next between Bella & Edward in Twilight? How tomorrow's 9 o'clock meeting will go? Will society members be excited about the blood donation campaign? I suddenly decided to stop thinking, and I started imagining myself in a huge beautiful garden. I don't remember what happened next. I might have fallen asleep ;)
